Toddler – inspire, challenge and adventure

Educators = Miss Jovi, Miss Priya, Miss Aleena
The educators of our toddler room set an environment with many natural spaces and open-ended learning for children to be motivated in exploring the natural environment with imagination and creativity. It’s about creating space and opportunities where children thrive, where they can wander, explore and navigate their growing perceptions of the world. Vibrant and flexible environments allow for discovery and cater to individual personalities.
Toddlers are active learners and are always on the move. We know that children love to play and be free to explore so we foster this by providing a caring, happy, challenging and stimulating environment. To put it simply, we encourage the children to play, and therefore to learn. This environment has been designed to foster the active toddler and to get them involved in age-appropriate learning that involves, music, dancing, art, and dramatic play just to name a few.
Why Choose Kenmore Hills Early Learning Toddler?
1. Unique Experiences daily!
1.1. In the Toddler Room at Kenmore Hills Early Learning, the toddler room focuses on building on initial skills and milestones built within a nursery room. Focusing on physical wellbeing, fine motor skills and even further into social interactions and language development between the children.
2. Language Development!
2.1 We here at Kenmore Hills Early Learning understand that from the age of 1.5 years old, talking becomes a big part of a child’s life. Throughout every day, the educators within the toddler room encourage your child to talk, ask questions and become a curious learner!
3. Animal Inclusion!
3.1 As we have our Lizard Armour within the toddler room, we encourage your children to become hands-on learners with Animals. We teach your child important things like gentle hands and living things, to be able to show your child the natural wonders of our world.
4. Cultural Connection!
4.1 Within the toddler room, your child is taught all about different cultures and celebrations around the world. Our educators also encourage children to make artwork surrounding these holidays that are always on the wall to show the families!
5. Learning Journey!
5.1 Throughout your child’s time in the Toddler Room, they will be constantly learning. Our Lead Educator will be constantly asking for your input in your child’s development, and we begin to work together to be able to get your child progressing in their learning.
6. Buddy Class!
5.1 Here in the toddler room, we partner up with the next age room – Junior Kindy and have a buddy class. This is an amazing experience that we do fortnightly to be able to build connections between children and eventually make the transition when your child moves up, that much easier.
A Day in Our Toddler
In our Toddler room, each day is filled with play, learning, laughter, and plenty of cuddles. We follow a flexible and nurturing routine that supports toddlers as they grow in confidence, explore their world, and feel safe and secure throughout the day.
6:30 – 7:30: Breakfast. We begin the morning with a nutritious breakfast in a calm, relaxed environment, helping children ease gently into their day.
6:30 – 8:00: Family Grouping. During family grouping, children spend time with different educators and friends. This helps build strong relationships, a sense of belonging, and a warm community feeling.
8:00 – 9:00: Playtime (Indoor/Outdoor). Toddlers enjoy exploring through play both inside and outside. Our planned activity for the day happens during this time, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning.
9:00: Morning Tea. A healthy snack to refuel little bodies and get ready for more play and discovery.
9:30: Free Play & Group Activities. Children are encouraged to join in our daily planned learning experiences, thoughtfully designed to support each child’s development and interests.
10:30 – 11:00: Group Time. We come together for songs, stories, and interactive experiences that support language, social skills, and confidence in a fun and relaxed way.
11:00: Lunch A delicious, nutritious lunch prepared to keep our little ones happy and energised.
11:30 – 2:00: Rest Time. Children begin to wind down and rest their bodies. While not all toddlers sleep, everyone is encouraged to relax quietly so they feel refreshed and ready for the afternoon.
2:00: Afternoon Tea. A light snack to keep energy levels high for the afternoon.
2:30 – 6:30: Afternoon Play & Pick-Up. The afternoon is filled with relaxed free play, engaging activities, and indoor and outdoor fun until it’s time to head home. At every stage of the day, our educators provide gentle guidance, comfort, and encouragement—supporting toddlers to feel safe, confident, and happy as they learn and grow with us.
How do you ensure a Toddler feels safe and confident within your room? A message from Miss Jovi (lead educator in toddlers):
As a toddler educator, I support each child to grow into a curious, confident little learner who feels safe, capable, and ready to explore the world around them. I gently encourage independence and self-help skills through everyday routines, such as making their beds, putting away water bottles, washing their own hands, and placing hats in their special pockets. These small moments help build confidence and pride in what they can do all by themselves. Having a consistent daily routine helps children feel secure and settled, and we follow this each day to create a calm and predictable environment. I plan experiences and activities based on the children’s interests and individual developmental goals, so learning feels meaningful and fun. Every activity is thoughtfully planned to be safe and age-appropriate, while encouraging learning through play, exploration, and discovery. Above all, I aim to create a warm, nurturing space where toddlers feel supported, valued, and happy as they grow.
